National Careers Week is a time to recognise the importance of careers education and to support individuals in making informed decisions about their future. This year, National Careers Week 2025 is taking place from March 3rd to March 9th, and the theme is … ‘You Can’.
From our enthusiastic apprentice to our innovative IT department and dynamic sales team, NAPIT staff members share their experiences offering a glimpse into the diverse and exciting career paths within the company.
“In IT there is a really diverse group of people. We have got a series of developers and support technicians,” explains Alex who is a Support and Infrastructure Engineer at NAPIT.
He added: “I work in support, it’s absolutely brilliant to be honest with you, we get to work with so many people, so many different technologies it’s absolutely fantastic.”
In our sales department ‘every day is different’. Gabriela, Sales Executive at NAPIT, said: “I come from a sales background, I really enjoy sales and the customer interactions.
“The work environment is fast paced but it’s really relaxed, everyone is really helpful and the culture is amazing. The team is very supportive.
“Every day in sales is different, no day is the same. You get different enquiries, different customers, I work on the outbound side of the business, as well as inbound so it’s fast paced. I’m still learning and there’s a lot to learn, my main role is to reach out to customers who are already signed up with NAPIT.”
NAPIT Training courses are held at our Training and Assessment Centres throughout the UK in Mansfield, Oldham, Bristol and Potters Bar. Tendai, Electrical Training Lecturer at NAPIT, explains how the ever-changing industry allows her to continue to grow and develop her knowledge both inside and outside the classroom at NAPIT.
“It’s interesting, it’s all about how you set the tone at the beginning of the training and it also requires you to have enough knowledge but also remembering not to be a know it all because the field that we are in, in fact every field, is dynamic.
“So, things change very fast, if somebody’s out there, they are exposed to more things that than I’m exposed to in the classroom. Every now and again, if there is an opportunity to go out the classroom and learn things, the door is there.
“It keeps you on your toes and you keep researching and trying to grow yourself in the field. But it’s important you don’t hesitate to talk to colleagues if things are not going well for you. When they help, I can learn from that and then apply it in my next lesson.”
In September 2024, NAPIT welcomed a new Facilities Maintenance Apprentice. Callum began his apprenticeship journey after seeking a new opportunity. He said: “It’s been a really good experience so far, you get to learn how the company works. With the college side you learn the basics and build on your skills, but the best part of doing an apprenticeship is you get the hands-on experience as well as the theory side of it.
“It’s a big change working at NAPIT, you come in and you don’t know what to expect. I assist with the property maintenance, I change the taps, build desks and chairs for the office as well as the upkeep of the building.”
Rebecca, Complaints Coordinator, explained the importance of working with a team. She said: “I really enjoy the atmosphere at NAPIT, we are a very friendly bunch. I just think it’s a nice supportive place to be.
“Working in the complaints department can be very tricky, the job role can be quite challenging and I find that NAPIT is very helpful, you always have a colleague to question if you are not sure. You are able to bounce around ideas and a collaborative approach is really important to me.”
Stephen Melton, Commercial and Compliance director said: “NAPIT are proud to have such a fantastic and committed team that bring an outstanding customer service experience to our members and consumers.
“We strive to create an environment where everyone feels supported at work and remain committed to maintaining a great culture among our staff members.”
